For this reason, we have decided to work together with Glacier on our vision of a CO₂-neutral company. Glacier is a climate startup from Austria that has set itself the goal of integrating climate action into the DNA of every company. Through empowerment & education of employees in various formats, such as a Climate Academy and a Climate Impact Week, climate action in companies is made simple, understandable and concrete.
With the support of Glacier, we as a team at hello again can drive climate protection forward and achieve a real impact immediately. Internally, we give our colleagues the opportunity to actively participate in this journey and also use the Glacier community to develop effective plans and measures to reduce CO₂.
Specifically, we at hello again are taking advantage of the offer to participate in Climate Impact Week 2022. This week of action takes place in October 2022 and offers our employees the opportunity to engage intensively with the topic of climate protection, identify measures and then implement them within the company.
We have also decided to use Glacier's Carbon Manager (CARMA) as a digital companion on our journey to reduce CO₂. With CARMA, we can calculate hello again's carbon footprint easily and transparently based on scientifically sound findings. This is the basis for taking concrete measures and action plans to efficiently save CO₂ and to track this via the Carbon Manager.
The journey towards sustainability has not just begun, it is already in full swing. At hello again, we have been using electric cars for our sales staff in the field, green electricity and resource-saving measures in the office to help our team save CO₂ since 2021. We actively and consciously make sure to minimize electricity consumption and heating requirements as much as possible.
In addition, we are easily accessible for our employees via public transport and increasingly rely on video calls and predominantly digital communication for our appointments with customers, including in the field. Postal mailings and thus paper consumption and transportation should also be avoided as much as possible.
With our innovative solution for digital customer loyalty, we are already making a significant contribution to avoiding huge amounts of CO₂. By replacing the traditional physical customer card (usually made of plastic), we avoid energy-intensive production processes for plastic cards, avoid unnecessary mailings by post and can also avoid printing environmentally harmful receipts on thermal paper thanks to our options for displaying digital invoice receipts.
With the many registered users in all our apps, we have been able to avoid unnecessary plastic cards in large numbers. According to information from the Thales Group, these physical loyalty cards generate an average of 150 grams of CO₂ per card due to the material, production, packaging and transportation alone. This shows that our digital customer loyalty model has already made a significant contribution to CO₂ avoidance.
Another example of our sustainable solution is the introduction of digital receipts at the well-known retailer Müller, our largest customer. Müller's consumers are already actively using the option to avoid physical receipts and are relying on digital display and storage. As a result, over 2.5 million digital receipts have already saved more than 2 tons of CO₂. These examples show the potential of our solution and how we will save many more tons of CO₂ through digital customer loyalty.
At hello again, we are doing all of this for a better future and to help protect our planet - hello sustainability!
